It sits right along the tracks of the old Southern Pacific Railroad, which was once a very important railway line for transportation across the United States. Cornell is quite high up, too! It's located at an elevation of 4,124 feet (or 1,257 meters) above sea level.
Cornell's Post Office History
Even though it's a small community, Cornell once had its own post office. This post office helped people send and receive mail from 1884 to 1904. There was a short break in service during part of 1890, but it reopened afterward before closing permanently in 1904.
