History of Cornway College
How Cornway College Started
The college will bloom like a cornflower.
—Lovemore Kurotwi Junior, circa 2006
Cornway College was started by Lovemore Kurotwi. It first opened its doors on January 23, 2006. The first students came from a study group called Whitehorse Academy, which had 120 pupils.
The name "Cornway College" was actually suggested by Lovemore Kurotwi Junior when he was just eleven years old! He thought the college would "bloom like a cornflower." The first Headmaster of Cornway College was Edmore Mutekwe.

School Motto
And God said, "Let there be light," and there was light.
— Genesis 1:3, New International Version
The motto of Cornway College is "Let There Be Light." This phrase comes from a famous verse in the Bible, Genesis 1:3.
This motto means spreading knowledge and getting rid of ignorance. It's like bringing light to dark places by learning new things. Many other schools and universities around the world use a similar motto, like "Fiat Lux" in Latin. You can see the motto on the Cornway College emblem.
