Correct is a small community in Indiana, USA. It's not a big city or town, but a quiet place located in Ripley County, within Johnson Township. It's known as an "unincorporated community," which means it doesn't have its own local government like a city or town does.
History
Correct got its name in a funny way! A post office opened here in 1881. It stayed open for many years, finally closing in 1905.
The story of the name goes like this:
In 1881, a postmaster named William Will from a nearby town called Versailles was asked to suggest a name for this new community. At the time, Halley's Comet was a very popular topic. So, he decided to name the new place "Comet." He wrote "Comet" on the official form.
However, the postal people who read the form couldn't quite make out his handwriting. They sent the card back to Mr. Will. They wanted him to confirm if the name was really "Comet." Mr. Will simply wrote "Correct" on the card and sent it back. And that's how the community got its unique name!
