Corrugation Road is an Australian musical. It tells a story about a young Aboriginal person's experiences in a hospital. The musical is based on the real-life experiences of its writer, Jimmy Chi. He created it with his band Kuckles and other friends. This same team also made the popular musical Bran Nue Dae.
About the Musical's Journey
Corrugation Road was first produced by the Black Swan State Theatre Company in Perth. It had two very successful runs. These were in 1996–1997 and again in 1998.
The musical first showed a special preview. This was at the Canberra Theatre on October 10, 1996. It was part of the National Festival of Australian Theatre. After that, its official opening night was in Melbourne. This happened at the Fairfax Studio, Victorian Arts Centre. The date was October 17, 1996. This was part of the Melbourne International Festival of the Arts.
The show then traveled to other cities. It played in Perth at the Subiaco Theatre Centre. It also went to Adelaide at the Playhouse, Adelaide Festival Centre. These shows took place in late 1996 and early 1997.
The musical was brought back in June 1998. It started again at The Playhouse Theatre in Perth. After that, it went on a big tour all around Australia.
