Cornelia Maria "Corry" Brokken (born December 3, 1932 – died May 31, 2016) was a famous Dutch singer and TV host. Later in her life, she became a judge.
In 1957, she won the second ever Eurovision Song Contest. She sang the song "Net als toen" for the Netherlands. Corry had many hit songs during her career. She also performed in the popular Sleeswijk Revue and had her own TV show.
In 1976, Corry was the host of the Eurovision Song Contest. This event took place in The Hague, Netherlands. She stopped singing in 1973 to study law. After that, she became a lawyer and then a judge.

Corry Brokken's Life
Eurovision Song Contest Success
In 1956, Corry Brokken won the Nationaal Songfestival 1956. This contest chose who would represent the Netherlands at Eurovision. She sang the song "Voorgoed voorbij". This meant she could go to the first ever Eurovision Song Contest.
The next year, in 1957, she won the Nationaal Songfestival again. She represented the Netherlands at the Eurovision Song Contest 1957. Her song was "Net als toen". Willy van Hemert wrote the words and Guus Jansen wrote the music. This song got the most points from the judges. It gave the Netherlands its first win in the competition!
In 1958, Corry won the Nationaal Songfestival one more time. Her song was "Heel de wereld". The international final was held in Hilversum, Netherlands. But this time, her song came in last place. It only got one point. Corry Brokken is the only singer to have won Eurovision and also come in last place.
After Eurovision Fame

Corry Brokken was one of the most popular female singers in the Netherlands. This was during the 1950s and 1960s. She performed in the Sleeswijk Revue with Snip en Snap. She also had many hit songs. Some of these were Dutch versions of songs by Charles Aznavour.
In 1976, Corry Brokken was the host of the Eurovision Song Contest. In 1997, she announced the results for the Netherlands at the contest. By then, she was no longer singing. She had stopped her music career in 1973 to study law. After that, she became a lawyer. Later, she became a judge in 's-Hertogenbosch.
In the 1990s, she returned to entertainment. She performed on stage and recorded a new album. She also wrote a column for the magazine Margriet.
Corry Brokken passed away on May 31, 2016. She was 83 years old.

Corry Brokken was married three times. She had a daughter named Nancy Sleeswijk.
