Coso, also known as Granite Springs, was once a small community in Inyo County, California. It is found in the Coso Range, about 4 miles (6.4 km) southeast of Coso Peak. Today, the area where Coso was located is part of the Naval Air Weapons Station China Lake.
A Bit of History
In 1860, Dr. Darwin French found gold in this area. That's when the place was first called Granite Springs. The name Coso comes from the Coso people, who are the Native Americans who lived in this region.
