Coulvain was once a small town, known as a commune, located in northwestern France. It was part of the Calvados department within the Normandy region. A commune is like a local government area, similar to a small town or village. A department is a larger area, a bit like a county, and a region is an even bigger area, like a state or province.
What Happened to Coulvain?
On January 1, 2016, Coulvain joined with another commune to form a new, larger commune called Seulline. This means Coulvain no longer exists as a separate commune but is now part of Seulline. This often happens when smaller towns combine to share resources and services more effectively.
How Many People Lived in Coulvain?
Over the years, the number of people living in Coulvain changed. Here's a quick look at its population:
- In 1962, about 254 people lived there.
- By 1975, the population had dropped slightly to 218.

- By 2008, the population reached 348 people.
