Counselor is a small place in Sandoval County, New Mexico, United States. It is called an unincorporated community. This means it is a settlement that is not part of an official city or town.
Counselor is found where U.S. Route 550 and New Mexico State Road 403 meet. It is also a special area called a chapter within the Navajo Nation. The community got its name from Jim Counselor. He was a trader who worked in this area in the early 1900s.
