A post office was opened in Cove Gap in 1923. It helped people send and receive mail. The post office stayed open for 15 years, closing in 1938.
Buchanan's Birthplace State Park
One of the most interesting things about Cove Gap is Buchanan's Birthplace State Park. This park is a special place that honors James Buchanan. He was the 15th President of the United States.
James Buchanan was born near this spot on April 23, 1791. The park helps people remember him and learn about his early life.
