Cowanshannock Creek is a stream in Pennsylvania, United States. It flows through Armstrong and Indiana counties. This creek is a tributary of the Allegheny River. A tributary is a smaller stream or river that flows into a larger one. Sometimes, the eastern part of Cowanshannock Creek is called the North Branch Cowanshannock Creek.

Cowanshannock Creek starts in South Mahoning Township. This area is located in Indiana County, Pennsylvania. From there, the creek flows west.

As it travels, the creek winds through several places in Armstrong County. These include Cowanshannock Township and the town of Rural Valley. It also passes through Valley Township. Next, it flows through Manor Township. Finally, it reaches Rayburn Township.

The creek then joins the Allegheny River. It connects to the river on its right side. This meeting point is near a community called Gosford. Gosford is about 3 miles (5 kilometers) northeast of Kittanning.
