Music Career
How It All Started
In 2013, Cozz decided to get serious about his passion for rap. He recorded a collection of songs called a demo tape. Soon after, he made a music video for his song "Dreams."
The video quickly got people's attention. Cozz's manager showed the video to J. Cole, who was very impressed. J. Cole signed Cozz to his record label, Dreamville Records, which was a huge step in Cozz's career.
First Album: Cozz & Effect
On October 3, 2014, Cozz released his first album, Cozz & Effect. At first, he planned to release it as a free mixtape. But the final songs sounded so good that he and his team decided to sell it as a proper album.
In 2015, Cozz joined J. Cole on his "2014 Forest Hills Drive Tour." He performed alongside big names in music like Bas, Omen, Pusha T, and Big Sean. This tour helped him gain many new fans.
Nothin' Personal and Effected
On January 4, 2016, Cozz released his first mixtape, Nothin' Personal. A mixtape is a collection of songs, often released for free. It featured other rappers like Boogie and Bas.
Two years later, on February 13, 2018, Cozz released his second album, Effected. This album featured famous artists like J. Cole and Kendrick Lamar. To promote the album, Cozz went on "The Effected Tour," performing in 16 cities across North America.
Recent Music
On October 22, 2021, Cozz released the song "Fortunate." It was the first single from his new project. A few weeks later, he released another single called "Addicted."
On December 2, 2021, he released the full EP, also called Fortunate. An EP, or extended play, is a short collection of songs, longer than a single but shorter than an album. The EP featured a guest appearance from the rapper YG.
