Craig Bryan Defoy (born 27 March 1947) is a Welsh professional golfer. He is known for his successful career in golf. He played in many important tournaments. One of his best results was finishing fourth in the 1971 Open Championship.

Craig Defoy's Golf Career

Craig Defoy started his golf career very well. He won three special tournaments for younger players. In 1968, he won the Gor-Ray Under-24 Championship. The next year, 1969, he won two more: Lord Derby’s Under-23 Professional Tournament and the Energen Junior Match Play. These were for golfers under 23 and under 25 years old.

Playing on the European Tour

Later, Craig played on the European Tour. This is a series of professional golf tournaments mainly held in Europe. He didn't win any events on this tour. However, he came in second place three times. He was runner-up at the 1973 Spanish Open. He also placed second in the 1976 Sun Alliance Match Play Championship. In 1977, he lost a playoff at the Skol Lager Individual.

He also played with another golfer, Derek Small. Together, they were runner-up in the 1974 Sumrie-Bournemouth Better-Ball tournament. They lost that event in a playoff too. Craig also won five times on the Safari Circuit. This was a series of golf tournaments played in Africa, between 1970 and 1973.

Playing as a Senior Golfer

As he got older, Craig Defoy joined the European Seniors Tour. This tour is for professional golfers aged 50 and over. His best results on this tour were also second-place finishes. He was runner-up in the 1997 Jersey Seniors Open. He also came in second at the 2001 SSL International Sodexho Match Play Championship.

Craig Defoy proudly represented his home country, Wales, many times. He played for Wales seven times in the World Cup.
