Craig Hickman was born in Madison, Wisconsin. He grew up in a family with African-American heritage. He went to Rufus King High School in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. He was the top student in his class.
After high school, he went to Harvard University. He studied Government and graduated in 1990.
Craig Hickman's Political Journey
Craig Hickman first tried to become a state representative in 2010. He didn't win that time. But in 2012, he tried again and won! He beat his opponent with 59% of the votes. Two years later, he won again by an even bigger margin.
In 2020, Craig Hickman spoke at a big meeting for his political party. He announced how many votes two important candidates received from Maine.
In 2021, he was elected to the Maine Senate. He took over the seat from Shenna Bellows.
Craig Hickman's Personal Life and Community Work
Craig Hickman lives in Winthrop, Maine. He lives there with his husband, Jop Blom.
He owns a 25-acre farm called Annabessacook Farm. It's also a bed and breakfast. He often gives free meals to people in need from his farm.
Craig Hickman also writes a popular sports blog online. He used to be the President of the Winthrop Area Rotary Club. This club helps the local community.
