Cranesville is a small town, also called a borough, located in Erie County, Pennsylvania, United States. In 2020, about 572 people lived there. It is part of the larger Erie area.
Cranesville is special because it is the hometown of John Williams. He is an Olympic gold medalist in archery!

History of Cranesville
Cranesville got its name from its founder, a person named Fowler Crane.
On May 31, 1985, a very powerful tornado hit the town. This storm caused a lot of damage. Sadly, three people in Cranesville lost their lives. Nine more people died in the nearby town of Albion.
Where is Cranesville?
Cranesville is in the southwestern part of Erie County. It is next to Conneaut Township on its west side. On its north, east, and south sides, it is bordered by Elk Creek Township. The town of Albion is about 2 miles (3.2 km) southwest of Cranesville.
The town covers a total area of about 0.94 square miles (2.4 square kilometers). Most of this area is land. Only a tiny part, about 0.004 square miles (0.01 square kilometers), is water.
A main road, Pennsylvania Route 18, goes right through the middle of Cranesville. This road is also called Meadville Street. If you go north on this road for about 7 miles (11 km), you will reach Girard. Going south for about 12 miles (19 km) will take you to Conneautville. The city of Erie is about 25 miles (40 km) northeast of Cranesville. You can get there using PA 18, Interstate 90, and Interstate 79.
