The Craugastor persimilis is a small type of frog. It belongs to a family of frogs called Craugastoridae. This frog lives in the country of Costa Rica. You can find it in the lower areas and foothills on the Atlantic side of central and southeastern Costa Rica.

These frogs love living in wet rainforests. They are found both in flat areas and on the lower parts of mountains. They often hide in the leaves that cover the forest floor.

Where Does This Frog Live?

The Craugastor persimilis frog is found only in Costa Rica. It prefers the warm, wet climate of the country's Atlantic lowlands. It also lives in the "premontane" areas. This means the lower slopes of mountains before they get too high.

This frog is quite adaptable. It can live in places that have been changed a bit by people. For example, you might find them in areas that used to be rainforest but are now farms or plantations.

What Does the Craugastor persimilis Look Like?

These frogs are very small! Male Craugastor persimilis frogs grow to be about 13 to 18 millimeters long. That's less than an inch! Female frogs are a little bigger. They can grow to be about 13 to 23 millimeters long.

Is This Frog in Danger?

Even though many places where these frogs live have been changed by humans, the Craugastor persimilis is not considered to be in danger. It is a very adaptable species. This means it can adjust well to different environments. Scientists do not think it is threatened right now.
