Meet the Mandelburgeri Fish
This fish got its name to honor a very important person. It's named after Darío Mandelburger, a Paraguayan scientist. He is an ichthyologist, which is a scientist who studies fish.
Darío Mandelburger was a key person in a project called Proyecto Vertebrados del Paraguay. This project worked to study and understand the animals with backbones in Paraguay between 1992 and 1999. Naming a fish after him is a way to recognize his important work in studying the wildlife of the region.
