Discovering Creole Kosher Kitchen
Creole Kosher Kitchen opened its doors in the year 2000. It was started by a local businessman named Gideon Daneshrad. People often called him Chef Gideon. He already owned several shops in the area.

Chef Gideon wanted to offer a unique dining experience. New Orleans is famous for its food. But most of it is not kosher. Kosher food follows special Jewish dietary laws. Chef Gideon wanted to give people a kosher option.
What Kind of Food Was Served
The restaurant served food in the traditional New Orleans style. But it left out ingredients that are not kosher. For example, they did not use shrimp or crawfish. The restaurant quickly became a popular spot. Both Jewish and non-Jewish visitors loved it. It was one of the only kosher restaurants in New Orleans.
Hurricane Katrina's Impact
In 2005, a huge storm called Hurricane Katrina hit New Orleans. This hurricane caused a lot of damage. The Daneshrad family was well-known in the city. They had to leave New Orleans for safety. They traveled to Los Angeles to stay with family members there.
After the Storm
After the hurricane passed, the Daneshrads returned to New Orleans. They wanted to see the damage to their property. But the damage was too severe. They soon decided to move to Los Angeles permanently. Chef Gideon thought about opening a new restaurant there. He wanted to share his special recipes in Los Angeles.
The Restaurant's Closure
Other kosher restaurants in the Greater New Orleans area eventually reopened. But Creole Kosher Kitchen stayed closed for good. Today, a different restaurant is in its old spot. It is an Italian cafe.
