Crescent Lake is a lake in Pensacola, Florida. It was created by people to be part of the Crescent Lake Subdivision, a neighborhood that started selling homes in 1960. The lake is fed by natural springs, meaning water flows into it from underground. To create the lake, a dam was built. This dam broke two times, once in 1969 and again in 2014. Each time, it was rebuilt to keep the lake in place. The last time it was rebuilt was in 2017.
Waterways Connected to Crescent Lake
Crescent Lake is part of a system of waterways. Several streams and bayous connect it to other lakes and even a river.
Marcus Bayou
The Marcus Bayou is a small stream and bayou (a slow-moving channel of water). It connects Crescent Lake to other nearby lakes, like The Marcus Cottage Lakes and Turners Creek. This bayou also has a very narrow connection to the Perdido River.
Bellshead Branch
The Bellshead Branch is a waterway that was built to connect to Crescent Lake. It helps link the lake to the Marcus Cottage Lakes and Apartments area. This branch also plays a role in forming the Marcus Bayou.
Turners Creek
Turners Lake is a lake that is privately owned by the Turner Apartments. This lake connects directly to the Marcus Bayou, making it part of the larger water system linked to Crescent Lake.
