Crescent Towers are a group of tall rock formations located in the beautiful Purcell Mountains. These mountains are part of the larger Columbia Mountains range in southeastern British Columbia, Canada. The towers stand just east of Crescent Spire and south of Eastpost Spire, which are also famous peaks in the area.

Crescent Towers are made up of several distinct parts. There's a North Tower, two Central Towers, and two towers at the very south. These southernmost towers have a fun nickname: "Donkey Ears." They got this name because their shape really does look like the ears of a donkey!

Exploring the Towers

These towers are a popular spot for mountain climbers. People come from all over to test their skills on the challenging rock faces. The towers are made of strong Granite rock, which is perfect for climbing.

North Tower Climbs

The North Tower offers a few different ways to reach its top. Climbers can choose routes that vary in difficulty.

  • North Ridge, a challenging path for experienced climbers.
  • Northwest Side, another route that tests climbing skills.

Central Tower Adventures

The Central Towers have even more exciting routes for climbers. These paths offer different levels of difficulty, from moderate to very tough.

  • Northwest Gully, a path that requires careful climbing.
  • Lion's Way, a popular route for many climbers.
  • Lions and Tigers, a more difficult climb for those seeking a challenge.
  • Tiger's Trail, a very demanding route.
  • Lost in Space, one of the hardest climbs on the Central Towers.

Donkey Ears Challenges

The "Donkey Ears" towers also have their own set of unique climbing routes. These routes are known for being quite difficult and require a lot of skill and experience.

  • Thatcher Cater, a very tough climb.
  • Edwards-Neufeld, another extremely challenging route.
  • Ears Between, a path that goes between the two "ears."
  • Eeyore, a demanding climb named after the famous donkey character.
