History of Creston
Creston was first planned out in 1886. This happened when a railroad, called the Fremont, Elkhorn and Missouri Valley Railroad, was built through the area. The village got its name "Creston" because it was built on a high spot, like the crest of a hill.
Many of the first people who settled and built up Creston were from Germany. The town officially became a village in 1890. This meant it had its own local government.
