Cricket is a small community in North Carolina, United States. It is located in Wilkes County, right between the towns of Wilkesboro and North Wilkesboro. Cricket is known as a census-designated place (CDP). This means it is an area that the government counts for population, but it does not have its own official city or town government. In 2020, about 1,966 people lived in Cricket.

How Do People Get Around?

Cricket does not have any very large main roads running through it today. However, in the past, important roads like NC-16, NC-60, and US-421 used to pass through the area. What is now the main road, called Boone Trail, was once part of these older highways. Along Boone Trail, you can find local churches like Celebration Church and Harmony Baptist Church.

While there isn't a regular bus service in Cricket, you can still get around. The Wilkes Transportation Authority offers a service where you can ask them to pick you up or drop you off. This service usually costs between $4 and $5.
