Cristina García-Orcoyen Tormo (born 2 January 1948) is a Spanish politician and environmentalist. She was a member of the European Parliament from 1999 to 2004. This means she helped make laws for all of Europe. Before that, she worked to protect nature. She was the leader of the World Wide Fund for Nature (WWF) in Spain for many years. She also led a group called the Environment Foundation. As a Member of the European Parliament, she focused on rules about the environment, industry, and how countries work together.

Cristina García-Orcoyen Tormo was born in Madrid, Spain, on January 2, 1948. She studied Political and Economic Sciences at the Complutense University of Madrid. She also earned degrees in Business Management and Foreign Trade. These studies helped her understand how businesses and countries work.
Working to Protect Nature
From 1983 to 1996, Cristina was the general secretary of the World Wide Fund for Nature in Spain. This group is also known as WWF/Adena. During this time, she worked hard to make people in Spain more aware of environmental issues. She focused on saving natural places and different kinds of plants and animals.
She represented WWF in important global groups. These included the International Union for Conservation of Nature. She also served on the European Consultative Forum on the Environment. She was even its vice-chair for a few years. From 1993 or 1994 until 1996, she was the vice-president of the European Union Environment Advisory Council.
In 1996, Cristina became the head of the Environment Foundation. This group helps Spanish businesses become more sustainable. This means they learn to operate in ways that protect the environment for the future. In 1996, she also helped start the Spanish Committee of the United Nations Environment Programme. In 1999, she received a special award called the National Environment Award. It was for her work in economy and the environment.

In 1999, Cristina García-Orcoyen Tormo was elected to the European Parliament. She represented Spain as a member of the People's Party. She started her work on July 20, 1999.
As a Member of the European Parliament (MEP), she worked on many important topics. These included new rules about the environment, industry, and how countries interact. She was part of several committees, which are groups that focus on specific areas.

Cristina was a member of the Committee on the Environment, Public Health and Consumer Policy. This committee works on making sure people are healthy and safe.
