History of Cromwell
Cromwell was officially planned out in 1853. It was named after a famous English politician, Oliver Cromwell, because the town's founder admired him. A post office has been open in Cromwell since 1851, even before the town was officially planned.
In 2015, the Cromwell Historic District was added to the National Register of Historic Places. This means its old buildings and area are important to history.
