Cruz Family facts for kids
The Cruz Family in Chile is a very old and important family. It was started by a naval captain named Giovanni della Croce Bernadotte. When he came to Chile in 1743, his name was changed to Juan de la Cruz y Bernardotte to sound more Spanish. He was the first of the Cruz family to live in Chile.
Founding the Family in Chile
Juan de la Cruz y Bernardotte helped establish the Cruz family in Chile. He had many children who continued the family line. These children helped the family grow and become well-known in the country.

- Vicente de la Cruz y Bahamonde (born 1753)
- Juan Manuel de la Cruz y Bahamonde (born 1756)
- Anselmo de la Cruz y Bahamonde (born 1764)
- Nicolás de la Cruz y Bahamonde (born 1760)
Some of his daughters also married into other important families:
- María Mercedes de la Cruz y Bahamonde married Juan Albano Pereira Márquez.
- Bartolina de la Cruz y Bahamonde also married Juan Albano Pereira Márquez.
- Micaela de la Cruz y Bahamonde married Manuel de la Concha y Pérez de Velarde.
