Cuando Cubango Province facts for kids
Cuando Cubango is a large province in the country of Angola. It is home to about 140,000 people. The capital city of the province is Menongue.
The province gets its name from two important rivers: the Cuando and the Cubango. Both of these rivers flow through the area.
Wildlife and History
Cuando Cubango was once home to the Painted Hunting Dog. This animal is an endangered species. Sadly, these dogs are no longer found here. Their habitat was damaged during years of conflict in the region.
In the 1980s and 1990s, Cuando Cubango was a main base. It was used by the UNITA rebel movement. This group was involved in a long conflict in Angola.
