History of Cuba
Cuba was officially started in 1837. Before that, there were two smaller towns nearby called Centerville and Middleton. These two towns decided to join together to form one new town.
The people who founded the new town chose to name it after the island of Cuba. A post office has been open in Cuba since it was founded in 1837, helping people send and receive mail for many years.
Where is Cuba Located?
Cuba is found right in the middle of Fulton County. A main road, Illinois Route 97, goes through the city. This road can take you north about 40 miles to Galesburg. If you go south about 20 miles, you'll reach Havana, which is on the Illinois River.
The city of Cuba is quite small. It covers an area of about 0.54 square miles (or 1.41 square kilometers). All of this area is land, with no large bodies of water inside the city limits.
