What Does Cubillo del Campo Do?

For a long time, the people of Cubillo del Campo have worked in farming and raising animals. They also used to dig for stone in special places called quarries. Some of the stone used to build the famous Burgos Cathedral came from these very quarries!

Today, there are also two places that dig for gravel. Gravel is small stones used in building. There is also a chicken farm located in an old military camp nearby.

Fun Things to Do and See

Cubillo del Campo is on a main road called N-234. This road connects different parts of Spain. Locally, people call it "Soria's road."

If you like walking, there are many hiking paths that go through the town. Two famous ones are the Ruta del Buen Conde and the Ruta del Cid. These routes are great for exploring the countryside.

For a bite to eat, there's a place called Bar La Plaza. It's right in the middle of town in Plaza de Santa Ana. If you want to visit other interesting towns, Burgos, Covarrubias, Lerma, and Santo Domingo de Silos are all close by.

Who Runs the Town?

The person in charge of a town is called a mayor. Since 2018, the mayor of Cubillo del Campo has been Francisco Javier Llama Navarro. He is part of the People's Party (which is called Partido Popular in Spanish). Before him, there were other mayors who helped lead the town.

Community Groups

Cubillo del Campo has two main community groups. One is for retired people and is called Santa Ana. The other is called Friends of Cubillo del Campo (Amigos de Cubillo del Campo in Spanish).

These groups help organize fun activities for everyone throughout the year. One big event is the "Association Day" (Día de la Asociación). On this day, a big lunch is made for everyone to share. There are also cultural activities and even a running race. This race is organized by Félix Hernando, who used to be a world champion marathon runner in the veterans' group!

Town Celebrations

The town celebrates its main festival on July 18th. This day honors their patron saint, Santa Marina. During the celebration, a statue of Santa Marina is carried through the streets by the young men of the town.

The festival usually lasts all weekend. There's a big community lunch, and people enjoy music, art contests, and card games. They also play traditional local games like bowling and tuta.
