Cult of Crime is an exciting mystery novel from The Hardy Boys Casefiles series. It was published in 1987. In this book, teenage detectives Frank and Joe Hardy face a tricky challenge. They must rescue their friend Holly from a mysterious group. This group is led by a person who calls himself 'the Rajah'. The word "Rajah" means "King" in Hindi.
The Mystery Begins
The story starts when Frank and Joe overhear their father talking with a man named Emmet Strand. Mr. Strand is worried because his daughter, Holly, has joined a group led by the Rajah. Holly is a good friend of Frank's. Because of this, Frank decides to join the group himself. He hopes to find out what's going on and help Holly.
The Rajah promises "peace" to teenagers who feel frustrated or unhappy. Many young people join his group, hoping to find answers. The Rajah seems very powerful. He even has connections with some police officers.
Dangerous Plans
Frank and Joe soon discover that the Rajah's plans are dangerous. They are trying to rescue Holly from this strange group. But they accidentally become part of one of the Rajah's risky events. During this event, Joe is wrongly accused of harming someone close to the Rajah. Holly then asks the boys to take her with them. However, it turns out she is secretly working with the Rajah. She tries to hurt the boys.
The Hardy Boys manage to escape with Holly. A police officer who works for the Rajah chases them. While they are traveling on a train, Frank is shot by a bullet and falls off. Holly tries to harm Joe again, but she fails.
Solving the Case
As the story continues, the Rajah seeks revenge on the Hardy Boys. He starts a riot in the city. He also captures Emmet Strand, Holly's father. The Rajah then reveals a big secret: he is Emmet Strand's son from his first marriage. He is taking revenge because his mother was left behind.
Finally, the Hardy Boys manage to catch the Rajah. They hand him over to the police. After everything is settled, Holly and her father, Emmet, leave the country.
