Cup-a-Soup Around the World
Cup-a-Soup is popular in many countries, but it's often sold under different brand names. In the United Kingdom, it's known as Batchelors Cup-a-Soup. This brand first introduced these quick soups in 1972! Today, Batchelors is owned by a company called Premier Foods.
If you travel to the Netherlands, you'll find it sold under the Unox brand. In many other places like South Africa, Sweden, Belgium, Denmark, Germany, Argentina, Poland, and India, it's sold as Knorr Cup-a-Soup. Interestingly, in Japan, the Knorr brand is distributed by a company called Ajinomoto.
Across the ocean in the United States and Canada, the company Unilever makes and sells it under their Lipton brand. And if you're in Australia, you'll see it as Continental Cup-a-Soup. It's cool how one product can have so many different names around the globe!
Delicious Flavors and Varieties
Cup-a-Soup comes in lots of yummy flavors! Some of the most popular ones include minestrone (a vegetable and pasta soup), chicken noodle, classic tomato soup, and chicken and vegetable.
In the UK, there are even special versions called "Slim-a-Soup." These are designed to be lower in calories and come in unique flavors like Mediterranean tomato. Around 2007, a new type called "Cup-a-Soup Extra" was introduced. These packets included not just soup powder but also small pieces of pasta! You could find flavors like cheese and broccoli with tagliatelle pasta, chicken and mushroom with pasta, minestrone, and even a tangy salsa tomato flavor.
