Welcome to the Currency Museum of the Bank of Japan! This amazing place, also known as the Currency Museum, Institute for Monetary and Economic Studies, Bank of Japan (日本銀行金融研究所貨幣博物館, Nihonginkō-kin'yū-kenkyūjo-kahei-hakubutsukan), is a special museum all about Japanese currency. It is located right in front of the Bank of Japan building in Chūō, a district in Tokyo, Japan.
The museum first opened its doors in November 1985. It helps visitors learn about the history of money in Japan. For example, in 2010, the museum had a cool exhibition. It showed different wallets used during the Edo Period (1603–1867) and the Meiji Era (1868–1912). This helped people see how money was carried and used long ago.
Cool Coins and History
The museum has many interesting items on display. You can see old coins and learn about their stories. These coins show how money has changed over hundreds of years.
