Cyw (which means "Chick" in Welsh) is a special group of TV shows for children on the S4C channel in Wales. It started on 23 June 2008.
Cyw is mostly for children aged 3 to 6 years old. You can watch Cyw shows from Monday to Friday, between 7 AM and 1:30 PM. Some of the shows were already on S4C in a slot called Planed Plant Bach (which means Little Children's Planet). Other shows were new and shown in Welsh for the very first time.

Logos and Characters
The Cyw logo uses the word "Cyw" itself. The letter "C" is red, "y" is yellow, and "w" is blue.
Cyw also has six special cartoon characters. These characters appear in short animated clips that play before shows. They help make Cyw feel like a unique place!
The main characters are:
- Llew (a lion)
- Plwmp (an elephant)
- Deryn (a small fuchsia-coloured bird)
- Jangl (a giraffe)
- Bolgi (a bulldog)
- Cyw (a small female chick)
Cyw is different from its parent channel, S4C, because it doesn't show adverts. It is a non-commercial channel. The presenters who help introduce the shows are Huw Owen and Elin Haf.
What's Next for Cyw?
S4C once said they planned for Cyw to become its own TV channel. This was thought to happen when the UK switched to digital TV between 2007 and 2012. However, Cyw is still a block of shows on S4C today, not a separate channel.
Another block of shows called Stwnsh now plays every weekday evening. It replaced Planed Plant and offers two hours of programmes.
