Cèsar Martinell i Brunet (born in Valls on December 24, 1888 – died in Barcelona on November 19, 1973) was a famous Catalan architect. He was known for his unique building style, called Modernisme.

Cèsar Martinell was one of the special architects who learned from Antoni Gaudí. Gaudí was a very important teacher for him. Besides being an architect, Martinell also loved to study history and art. He became super famous for designing many amazing buildings called "wine cellars." These were built for farming groups in Catalonia, especially in the south. People often call these buildings "the cathedrals of wine" because they are so grand and beautiful.

Cèsar Martinell's main building style was Modernisme. This style often uses natural shapes, bright colors, and special decorations. He also used some ideas from another style called Noucentisme.

His most famous buildings were the wineries he designed. These are the "cathedrals of wine" (les catedrals del vi). They got this name because they look so magnificent, like grand churches. Martinell used old building methods and local materials to make these huge structures.

You can find his wine cathedrals in many towns across Catalonia. Some of these towns include Falset, Nulles, Cornudella de Montsant, Montblanc, and Gandesa. Some of these amazing buildings are open for visitors to see!

Besides wineries, he also designed a flour mill in Cervera. He even helped fix up old buildings, like the Basilica of Santa Maria in Igualada.
