DENK is a political party in the Netherlands. It was started in 2015. A political party is a group of people who share similar ideas about how a country should be run. They work together to get their ideas into action.
What is DENK?
DENK was formed to represent the interests of people with a non-Western background in the Netherlands. This means they focus on issues important to these communities. They want to make sure everyone has a fair chance and is treated equally.
Why Was DENK Formed?
The party was founded by two members of parliament who left another political party. They wanted to create a new platform. Their goal was to give a stronger voice to citizens who felt they were not being heard enough in Dutch politics.
Who Leads DENK?
The current political leader of DENK is Farid Azarkan. He helps guide the party and represents it in public. The first leader of the party was Tunahan Kuzu. Leaders play a big role in sharing the party's message.
DENK in Elections
In the Netherlands, people vote in elections to choose who will represent them in parliament. Parliament is where laws are made. In the 2017 Dutch general election, DENK won three seats. A "seat" means a place in parliament for a representative. Winning seats allows a party to help make decisions for the country.
