Dachigam National Park facts for kids
Dachigam National Park is a special place in India. It is about 22 kilometers from Srinagar, which is the capital city of Jammu and Kashmir. This park covers a large area of 141 square kilometers. Its name, "Dachigam," actually means "ten villages."
History of Dachigam Park
Dachigam National Park has been a protected area for a long time, since 1910. It was first set up to make sure the city of Srinagar had a supply of clean drinking water. Later, in 1981, it was officially named a National Park.
