Daffy Duck's Fantastic Island (also known as Daffy Duck's Movie: Fantastic Island) is a fun Looney Tunes movie from 1983. It mixes classic Warner Bros. cartoons with new animated parts. Daffy Duck and Speedy Gonzales are your hosts for this adventure! This film was special because it was the first Looney Tunes movie to focus on Daffy Duck. Before this, Bugs Bunny was usually the main star.

The movie was dedicated to John Dunn. He was an animator and story writer who inspired the film. Sadly, he passed away just before the movie came out in 1983.

What's the Story?

A Magical Island Adventure

The new animated parts of the movie are a funny take on a popular TV show. It was called Fantasy Island. Daffy plays a character like Mr. Roarke, and Speedy is like Tattoo. They are stuck on a desert island with only a coconut tree. Daffy is tired of eating coconuts!

Then, they find a treasure map. It leads them to a magical, talking wishing well. The well can grant wishes to whoever holds the map. Greedy Daffy decides to use the well's power. He wants to make himself and Speedy rich.

Selling Wishes to Toons

Daffy plans to turn the island into a beautiful tourist spot. They will sell wishes to other cartoon characters for a lot of money. Daffy and Speedy dress up in white suits, just like the characters from the TV show. Soon, an airplane arrives, bringing many famous Looney Tunes characters to the island!

As the customers come forward, their wishes are granted. Each wish leads to a classic Looney Tunes cartoon.

Pirates and Lost Wishes

Meanwhile, Yosemite Sam is a pirate in this story. His first mate is the Tasmanian Devil. They are looking for the map, which used to be theirs. They lost their ship earlier in a fight with Bugs Bunny.

Sam and Taz figure out that Daffy took their map. They chase Daffy and Speedy. During the chase, Sam accidentally pushes Daffy into volcanic soil. The map gets lost because of this. The island then turns back into a desert. Daffy, Speedy, Sam, and Taz are all stuck there again.

The wishing well offers them three final wishes. It warns them to use them wisely. Speedy wishes for a burrito. Daffy gets angry and wishes the burrito was stuck on Speedy's nose! Daffy then asks Sam to wish the burrito off Speedy's nose. But Sam has already used his wish! He wished for a ship and sails away, leaving Daffy and Speedy behind. The movie ends with the wishing well showing the famous "That's all, folks!" sign.

Fun Facts and Merchandise

In 1981, a big puzzle was made with 105 Looney Tunes characters. Three characters on the puzzle had never been in a cartoon before. Their names were Hoppy, Hysterical Hyram, and Minniesoda Fats.

In Daffy Duck's Fantastic Island, Hoppy and Hysterical Hyram actually appear! You can see them waiting for their turn to make wishes. They are with two other characters who are not named. This movie is their only known appearance in any cartoon!
