Daglipulli is a small place, also called a locality, in southern Chile. It is found in the Los Ríos Region, specifically in Ranco Province. This area sits right next to the Llollelhue River, on its western side. Back in 1899, about 640 people lived there.
A Look at Daglipulli's Past
Daglipulli started as a special settlement in 1788. It was a "mission," which means it was a place set up to work with the local indigenous (native) tribes. This was a common way for European settlers to interact with and try to teach their ways to the native people.
Building the Church
The original church in Daglipulli was built in 1788 as part of the mission. Later, in 1844, the church was built again. This new building likely replaced the older one, showing the community's continued importance.
