History of Daisy

Early Beginnings: Many Springs

The area where Daisy is now located was first known as Many Springs. This community played an important role in the past. It served as the county seat for Jacksfork County. This county was part of the Choctaw Nation, a Native American territory.

First Post Office: Etna

A post office was opened here on August 7, 1884. It was called Etna, Indian Territory. The name came from Etna Hewitt, who lived in the area. This post office helped people send and receive mail. It was an important connection to the outside world. The Etna post office closed its doors on August 9, 1897.

The Name Daisy Appears

A few years later, a new post office opened in the same spot. This happened on April 5, 1906. This time, the community received its current name: Daisy. It was named after a local girl named Daisy Beck. This new post office continued to serve the residents.
