The Dakota Territory Air Museum is an exciting place in Minot, North Dakota. It's an aviation museum, which means it's all about airplanes and flying! The museum's main goal is to celebrate the history of aviation. It honors the people and machines that made flying possible. You can learn, get inspired, and have fun there.

The museum has several cool areas. These include a main information room and outdoor displays. There's also a restoration hangar, where planes are fixed. You can also explore the Scott Nelson Gallery and the Texas Flying Legends hangar. Don't forget the Wright Flyer Hangar and the Oswin H. Elker Hangar!

The Story of the Air Museum

The Dakota Territory Air Museum started in 1986. The very first museum building was built two years later in 1988. More parts were added in 1990 and 1991. In 2013, a new hangar was built. This hangar is for the amazing planes from the Texas Flying Legends Museum.

Since 1997, the museum has held a yearly sweepstakes. In this event, they give away a small airplane!

Every spring, the museum teams up with the Texas Flying Legends Museum. Their collection of World War II warbirds flies from Texas to North Dakota. These planes are usually on display from mid-May through July. It's a great chance to see historic aircraft up close.

Since 2014, the museum has also hosted the Magic City Discovery Center. This is a children's museum. It stays at the Air Museum while it looks for its own permanent home.
