Dallis Smith's Football Journey
Starting in the NFL
Dallis Smith was not chosen in the 1987 NFL draft. This means no NFL team picked him directly from college. However, he still got a chance to play! He signed a contract with the Seattle Seahawks.
Before the 1987 NFL season began, he was let go from the team in August. But then, something unusual happened. There was a player strike in the NFL that season. This meant many regular players stopped playing for a while. Because of this, teams needed new players.
Playing as a Replacement
The Seahawks signed Dallis Smith again as a "replacement player." These players filled in for the regular players during the strike. Smith joined the team's roster for their game on October 4 against the Miami Dolphins. He played in a few games for the Seahawks that year.
