Dalmeny is a lovely town located on the south coast of New South Wales, Australia. It's about seven kilometres north of Narooma. In 2021, about 2,194 people lived in Dalmeny.

Dalmeny (say "Dal-me-nee") is mostly a place where people live. The town is built on high land that looks out over the Tasman Sea. To the north, you can see Lake Mummuga, which is a coastal lagoon. Because of its beautiful location, Dalmeny is a popular spot for camping. There's a big camping ground right in the middle of town. It looks out over the southern part of Brou Beach. This beach is often called Dalmeny Beach. Don't mix up Brou Beach with Broulee (say "Brow-lee") further north!

Even though Dalmeny is a small town, it has some useful places. There's a small shopping area in the town centre. You can also find a bowling club with four greens and a small restaurant.

Dalmeny Estate was started in 1880 by William Edye Mort. He was the second son of Thomas Sutcliffe Mort. Thomas had created the town of Bodalla. William named "Dalmeny" after his friend, Lord Dalmeny. His friend's family home was Dalmeny House in Scotland.

You can find many paths for walking and cycling in Dalmeny. Some of these paths follow the beautiful coastline. You can also go bushwalking in parts of the Eurobodalla National Park. Dalmeny also has places to launch boats, picnic spots, and lookouts with great views. There are also sports fields for playing games.

Getting to Dalmeny

There are two main roads that lead into Dalmeny. Mort Avenue comes from the Princes Highway. Dalmeny Drive connects from Kianga. Both of these roads are part of Tourist Drive 5. This drive offers amazing views of Dalmeny's many beaches. You'll find plenty of parking spots in Dalmeny. Many are close to Dalmeny Beach. There are also bus routes that connect Dalmeny to other towns on the south coast.

Dalmeny's Beaches

Dalmeny is famous for its many beaches. They stretch all around the coastline.

Brou Beach (Dalmeny Beach)

Brou Beach is the most popular beach in Dalmeny. It's on the northern coastline. During summer, lifeguards watch over this beach to keep everyone safe. It's easy to walk to the shops and the camping ground from here. Brou Beach is perfect for swimming, surfing, and bodyboarding. This beach is also part of the Eurobodalla National Park.

Yabbara Beach

Yabbara Beach is on the eastern side of Dalmeny. This beach does not have lifeguards. It's more popular with surfers because the waves are usually stronger here. Yabbara Beach also has many rocks along its sides. These rocks can be dangerous during strong currents called rips.
