This allowed people from Niue to travel to New Zealand safely. He also made sure Niue had a successful vaccination program. This program helped Niue get "herd immunity," meaning most people were protected from the virus.

In November 2021, he also took on another important role. He became the Chancellor of the University of the South Pacific for one year. This is a big university that serves many Pacific island nations.

On May 12, 2023, he announced his new team of ministers, called the Cabinet. This was a special moment for Niue. It was the first time the Cabinet had an equal number of men and women.
