Yiannis "Dan" Georgiadis (born May 5, 1922 – died January 18, 1998) was a Greek football player and later a well-known manager. He was born on the island of Ithaca in Greece but grew up in the city of Athens.

Dan Georgiadis had an exciting career in football, first as a player and then as a manager. He was known for his skills and his ability to lead teams.

Playing Days

Dan Georgiadis played as a goalkeeper. This position is very important in football, as the goalkeeper's job is to stop the opposing team from scoring goals.

He played for a team called Juventus București from 1939 to 1947. After that, he joined Panathinaikos, a famous Greek club, where he played for a short time between 1947 and 1948.

A Manager's Life: Coaching Around the World

Dan Georgiadis became famous for his long and varied career as a football manager. He coached many different teams in many different countries. This showed his adaptability and knowledge of the game.

Coaching in South America

Georgiadis spent a lot of time coaching teams in South America. He managed clubs like Sport Boys in Peru (1957–1958) and Banfield in Argentina (1958). He also coached Ferro Carril Oeste in Argentina from 1960 to 1962.

He managed Club Bolívar in Bolivia twice, first in 1962 and then again from 1965 to 1968. He also coached Club Libertad in Paraguay (1962–1963) and Santiago Wanderers in Chile (1963–1964).

Besides club teams, he also coached national teams in South America. He led the Peru national team from 1964 to 1965 and the Bolivia national team from 1966 to 1967. Later, he coached the Venezuela national team from 1975 to 1977.

Coaching in Europe and Other Regions

Dan Georgiadis also managed teams in his home country of Greece. He coached the Greek national team from 1968 to 1969. He also managed Greek clubs like Panachaiki (1969–1970), Olympiacos (1970–1971), Larissa (1974–1975), Panionios (twice, 1975–1976 and 1978–1979), and Trikala (1982–1983).

His coaching career also took him to other parts of the world. He managed the Haiti national team from 1959 to 1960. In Switzerland, he coached La Chaux-de-Fonds in 1971 and FC Montreux-Sports in 1987. He even had a stint with Sevilla in Spain from 1971 to 1972.

Dan Georgiadis passed away on January 18, 1998, at the age of 75. He is remembered for his long and impactful career in football, especially for coaching so many different teams across the globe.
