History of Dana
Dana was officially planned out in 1874. This happened when a railroad line was built to reach that area. The town was named after Charles Dana, who helped promote the railroad. A post office opened in Dana in the same year, 1874.
The town became an official municipality in 1886. At that time, Dana was seen as a fast-growing and lively place. This was thanks to its railroad, local businesses, and farming activities.

Dana is found in the middle part of Vermillion County. It is right on Indiana State Road 71. This road is less than half a mile north of U.S. Route 36.
