History of Dana
Dana became an official town in 1907. It was named after an early settler in the area, Samuel Dana.

Schools in Dana
Students living in Dana attend schools in the Greene County Community School District. This district operates Greene County Elementary, Greene County Middle, and Greene County High schools. All these schools are located in Jefferson.
Years ago, the school districts of Grand Junction and Dana joined together in 1959. They formed the East Greene Community School District. Later, the East Greene and Jefferson–Scranton districts combined. This created the Greene County Community School District on July 1, 2014.
