Dancy is a small, quiet community in Wisconsin, United States. It is also sometimes called Hutchinson Station or Juleson. Dancy is not a big city or a town with its own government. Instead, it is an "unincorporated community." This means it is part of a larger area called Knowlton, located in Marathon County.
A Look Back: Dancy's History
Dancy has an interesting past with a couple of name changes! When it was first settled, the community was known as Hutchinson. This name was chosen to honor the community's very first postmaster. A postmaster is the person in charge of a local post office.
Later, in the 1880s, the name was officially changed to Dancy. This new name was chosen to honor a man named Thorton Dancy. He was an important superintendent for a big train company. This company was called the Chicago, Milwaukee & St. Paul Railroad. So, the community's name became a tribute to him and his work with the railroad.
