Daniel Burley Woolfall (born June 15, 1852 – died October 24, 1918) was an important person in the world of football. He was the second president of FIFA, which is the international governing body for football.

Woolfall came from Blackburn, England. He was an administrator for the English Football Association. He was chosen as FIFA's president on June 4, 1906.

Leading FIFA

One of Daniel Woolfall's main goals as president was to make sure football rules were the same everywhere. This helped teams from different countries play fairly. He also helped write FIFA's new rulebook.

Under his leadership, the official Laws of the Game became mandatory for all international matches. This meant everyone followed the same rules, which was a big step for global football. He also helped clearly define what an "international match" was.

Football Goes Global

Two years after becoming president, Woolfall helped organize the first major international football competition. This was at the 1908 Olympic Games in London. This event showed how popular football was becoming worldwide.

During his time as president, FIFA grew a lot. Countries outside Europe joined for the first time. These included South Africa, Argentina, Chile, and the United States. This made FIFA a truly global organization.

Sadly, his time as president was cut short by the start of the First World War. Daniel Woolfall passed away in October 1918, while still serving as FIFA's president.
