Daniel L. Fields (born January 23, 1991) is an American former professional baseball player. He played as an outfielder. Daniel played one game in Major League Baseball (MLB) for the Detroit Tigers in 2015.
He was the first player since 1949 to hit a double in his only Major League game. He was also the first player since 1975 to play left field in his only MLB game. This is sometimes called a "cup of coffee" in sports.

Baseball Career Highlights
Starting with the Detroit Tigers
Daniel Fields was chosen by the Detroit Tigers in the 2009 Major League Baseball Draft. He was drafted in the sixth round. He had just finished high school at University of Detroit Jesuit High School and Academy.
Fields began his professional career in 2010. He played for the High-A Lakeland Flying Tigers. He spent a few years playing for Lakeland. In 2012, he moved up to the Double-A Erie SeaWolves. He played well there.
In 2013, he continued to play for the Erie SeaWolves. He had a good season, hitting for a high average. The Tigers added him to their main roster in November 2013. This meant he was closer to playing in the MLB.
He played for different teams in 2014, including the Triple-A Toledo Mud Hens. He started the 2015 season with the Mud Hens.
His Major League Debut
Daniel Fields was called up to the Major Leagues for the first time on June 2, 2015. He made his big league debut on June 4. In that game, he got his first Major League hit. It was a double in the 9th inning against the Oakland Athletics.
After his debut, the Tigers decided to make a change. He was later moved off the team's main roster in September 2015. He finished the season playing for the Toledo Mud Hens.
Playing for Other Teams
After leaving the Tigers, Daniel Fields moved to a few different teams. In September 2015, the Milwaukee Brewers picked him up. Then, in December 2015, the Los Angeles Dodgers claimed him.
He later joined the Chicago White Sox in January 2016. He played for their Triple-A team, the Charlotte Knights. He then re-signed with the Dodgers in June 2016. He played for their Triple-A team, the Oklahoma City Dodgers.
Independent League Baseball
Fields later signed with the Arizona Diamondbacks in 2017. He was released before the season started.
He then began playing in independent baseball leagues. These leagues are not part of Major League Baseball. In April 2017, he joined the Bridgeport Bluefish. He played well, hitting 12 home runs.
In November 2017, he was drafted by the Long Island Ducks. He played for the Ducks for several seasons. He continued to hit home runs and steal bases. He re-signed with the Ducks for the 2020 season, but it was canceled due to the pandemic.
He played for the Ducks again in 2021 and 2022. In 2022, he played only a few games for the Ducks.
Retirement from Baseball
In May 2022, Daniel Fields was traded to the Charleston Dirty Birds. However, just three days later, he decided to retire from professional baseball.

Daniel Fields' father is Bruce Fields. Bruce also played in Major League Baseball.
