Daniel L. Fields (born January 23, 1991) is an American former professional baseball player. He played as an outfielder. Daniel played one game in Major League Baseball (MLB) for the Detroit Tigers in 2015.

Daniel Fields' Baseball Journey

Daniel Fields was a talented baseball player. He played for many teams during his career. He even made it to the Major Leagues!

Starting with the Detroit Tigers

The Detroit Tigers picked Daniel in the sixth round of the 2009 Major League Baseball Draft. This was right after he finished high school in Detroit Michigan.

He began his professional journey in 2010. Daniel played for the High-A Lakeland Flying Tigers. He stayed with Lakeland for a few years. In 2012, he moved up to the Double-A Erie SeaWolves. He continued to improve his skills.

In 2013, Daniel had a strong season with the Erie SeaWolves. Because of his good play, the Tigers added him to their main roster. This meant he was closer to playing in the big leagues. In 2014 and 2015, he played for different minor league teams. These included the Toledo Mud Hens, a Triple-A team.

His Major League Debut

Daniel Fields got his big chance on June 2, 2015. He was called up to the Major Leagues! He made his first and only MLB appearance on June 4. In that game, he got his first major league hit. It was a double in the 9th inning. After his debut, the Tigers made some roster changes. Daniel was moved off the main team later that year.

Playing for Other Teams

After leaving the Tigers, Daniel continued his baseball career. He moved around to several different teams.

Chicago White Sox and Los Angeles Dodgers

In late 2015, Daniel was picked up by the Milwaukee Brewers. Soon after, he joined the Los Angeles Dodgers. Then, in early 2016, he was claimed by the Chicago White Sox. He played for their Triple-A team, the Charlotte Knights. Later that year, he rejoined the Dodgers' minor league system. He played for the Oklahoma City Dodgers.

Arizona Diamondbacks

In 2017, Daniel signed a contract with the Arizona Diamondbacks. However, he was released from the team a month later.

Independent League Baseball

Daniel then moved to independent baseball leagues. These leagues are not directly connected to Major League Baseball teams.

  • Bridgeport Bluefish: In 2017, Daniel played for the Bridgeport Bluefish. He had a great season there. He hit 12 home runs and had 51 RBIs (runs batted in).
  • Long Island Ducks: Daniel joined the Long Island Ducks in 2018. He played for them for several seasons. He continued to hit home runs and drive in runs. The 2020 season was canceled due to the pandemic. He returned to play for the Ducks in 2021 and 2022.

Charleston Dirty Birds and Retirement

In May 2022, Daniel was traded to the Charleston Dirty Birds. However, just three days later, he decided to retire from professional baseball.

Personal Life

Daniel Fields comes from a baseball family. His father, Bruce Fields, was also a professional baseball player in the MLB.
