Bruce Alan Fields was born on October 6, 1960. He is an American former professional baseball player who played as an outfielder. He also worked as a hitting coach for the Cleveland Indians in Major League Baseball (MLB). Bruce played in MLB for three seasons with the Detroit Tigers and the Seattle Mariners.

Bruce Fields' Baseball Journey
Bruce Fields started his professional baseball career after being chosen by the Detroit Tigers. This happened in the 7th round of the 1978 MLB draft. His first professional season was in 1978 with the Bristol Tigers, a Rookie league team.
Playing in the Major Leagues
Bruce played in Major League Baseball for parts of three seasons. He was with the Detroit Tigers in 1986. Later, he joined the Seattle Mariners for the 1988 and 1989 seasons. His last season as a player was in 1991. He split that year between two Triple-A teams: the Richmond Braves and the Syracuse Chiefs.
Becoming a Coach and Manager
After his playing days, Bruce Fields became a baseball manager and coach. From 1997 to 2000, he managed the Class A West Michigan Whitecaps. In 2000, his team had the best record in their league. Bruce won the Midwest League Manager of the Year Award twice, in 1997 and 2000.
He then managed the Triple-A Toledo Mud Hens for two seasons. After that, he became the hitting coach for the Detroit Tigers from 2003 to 2005. On June 19, 2011, Bruce Fields became the hitting coach for the Cleveland Indians.
Life Outside Baseball
Bruce Fields has a son named Daniel Fields. Daniel also became a professional baseball player and played for the Detroit Tigers. Daniel played his first and only major league game on June 4, 2015. Bruce's older son, Aaron, also played baseball in the minor leagues for the Cleveland Indians.
Bruce Fields was also a talented basketball player. He was teammates with famous basketball star Magic Johnson at Everett High School (Michigan) in Lansing, Michigan. They were part of the school's 1977 Class A Michigan High School Athletic Association championship team.
