Daniel Philip Henney (born November 28, 1979) is an American actor and model. He became well-known around the world after appearing in the Korean TV show My Lovely Sam Soon in 2005. In this show, he played Dr. Henry Kim.
..... He also played Matt Simmons in the TV series Criminal Minds. More recently, he starred as Lan Mandragoran in The Wheel of Time TV series, which started in 2021.

Daniel Henney's Early Life
Daniel Henney was born on November 28, 1979, in Carson City, Michigan, USA. His mother, Christine Henney, was adopted from Busan, South Korea, and worked as a nurse. His father, Philip Henney, was American and worked in a factory.
Daniel was a great basketball player in high school. He played for Carson City-Crystal High School and helped his team get to second place in a big championship in 1998. He went to a few colleges, but he didn't finish his studies because his modeling career started to become very busy.
Daniel Henney's Career Journey
Daniel Henney started his career as a model in the United States in 2001. He also worked as a model in France and Hong Kong. After living in Hong Kong and Taiwan for four years, he moved to South Korea.
Becoming a Star in South Korea
In 2004, while in New York, Daniel tried out for TV shows and did some acting. His first big break in South Korea was in a commercial for a cosmetic brand. He then appeared in commercials for Olympus cameras and Daewoo Electronics.
In 2005, while modeling in South Korea, he was chosen for the Korean TV show My Lovely Sam Soon. Even though he didn't speak Korean at the time, he played an American doctor who struggled with the language. The show was very popular, and many people in South Korea watched it.

After My Lovely Sam Soon, Daniel starred in another romantic TV show called Spring Waltz in 2006. He also continued modeling, appearing in a campaign with famous actress Gwyneth Paltrow.
Movies and American TV Shows
..... His second movie, My Father, won many awards in South Korea. He was the first non-Korean actor to win all the main "Best New Actor" awards there.
He later learned to speak Korean and appeared on fun TV shows like Family Outing. His first role in an American movie was as Agent Zero in X-Men Origins: Wolverine in 2009. In 2009, he also played Dr. David Lee in the CBS TV show Three Rivers.
In 2010, Daniel went back to Korean TV for the show The Fugitive: Plan B. Since 2012, he has been in several American TV series. In 2014, he voiced the character Tadashi Hamada in Disney's animated movie Big Hero 6.
Daniel Henney's Personal Life
On October 20, 2023, Daniel Henney married Ru Kumagai, who is a Japanese-American actress. Their wedding was a private ceremony in the United States, with only family members attending.
