Daniel Morden's Amazing Stories
Daniel Morden is a master of telling stories from the oral tradition. This means he tells stories out loud, often without a script, just like storytellers did thousands of years ago. He brings these tales to life with his voice and actions.
He especially enjoys retelling stories from two main places:
- Celtic tales: These are old stories from places like Wales, Ireland, and Scotland. They often feature magical creatures, brave heroes, and ancient lands.
- Ancient Greek myths: These are famous stories about gods, goddesses, heroes, and monsters from ancient Greece. Think of tales about brave Odysseus or the mighty Achilles.
Daniel has also written many books. These books are often collections of the stories and legends he tells. He has even worked with another writer, Hugh Lupton, to retell some of the most famous Greek myths.
Awards for His Storytelling
Daniel Morden has won a special award twice! It's called the Tir na n-Og Awards, given by the Welsh Books Council for the best English-language books for children.
- In 2007, he won for his book Dark Tales from the Woods. This book was full of exciting Welsh folktales.
- Then, in 2013, he won again for Tree of Leaf and Flame. This collection retold stories from the Mabinogion, which are very old and important Welsh legends.
